This includes Gilman's diaries, appointment books, registers of personal letters sent, letters conferring honorary membership in various organizations, and some autobiographical writings. Also included are letters written by Daniel C. Gilman to his parents, brother and sisters. Most were written during 1854-55 while he was traveling in Europe and serving as attache to the legation in St. Petersburg.
