Scope and Contents
Subgroup 1 contains the records of Robert C. Bowie in his roles as Controller, Vice President for Business Management, Vice President for Finance and Management Systems, Vice President for Finance and Treasurer and Sr. Vice President for Administration. The records range in date from 1971 to 1986 and deal with the management and finances of all aspects of University business. Many of the documents in this record group are concerned with tax and budget matters as well as affirmative action, the Frederick Cancer Research Facility, the Garrett Coin Collection, the Chilled Water System and the donation of two marine vessels to the University. There is also a large group of files dealing with the administrative facets of the Peabody Institute, which includes information about the renovation of Shapiro House and a fine arts appraisal. In addition to this, the record group contains files on the development and management of various properties owned by the University, including Homewood House and the Evergreen House/Garrett Library.
