Subseries 2.1: Work orders, 1929-2011

 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

This subseries consists of a large volume of packets called "work orders," which document steps taken in the creation of a Globe product, whether it be a poster, flyer, ticket, bumper sticker, t-shirt, sign, or business card. Globe had multiple filing systems for their work orders, and sometimes no organization existed at all. One may have to look in multiple places in this subseries even though the work orders do have concentrations of specific subject matter such as carnivals and ticket orders. Some work orders contain only an invoice, stating the type and number of item and billing details, and a proof showing the design for the work. Many work orders also have additional stages of editing and proofing as well as a hand-drawn layout (more of which may be found in the Production process records series) and any correspondence with the client.
