Series 3: Writings, 1940-1983
Scope and Contents note
Levy was the author of several volumes on American music including "Give me Yesterday" and "Picture the Songs," and he wrote several small pieces to describe the assembling of his collection of sheet music. In Series 3: Writings are Levy's typescript, annotated essays that complement the music collection in Special Collections. The writings are filed topically, and a few are particularly relevant to subjects of the sheet music collection: patriotic music, postage stamp music, and the editions of "The Star Spangled Banner." Articles about Lester S. Levy complete the series.
