 File — Container: 1

Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

In Series 1: Personal, filed in Box 1, is a small selection of items which touch briefly on different areas of Miss Lincoln's personal life. There are several sections of autobiographical writings dealing with her family background and her early life in Fall River. Most likely, material in Series 2: Cobb-Lincoln Families, was useful to her genealogical research.

In 1962, Miss Lincoln was asked to serve as a delegate to the Alumnae Council of Radcliffe College. A report presented to her classmates, Class of 1926, is contained here. Another event which celebrated Miss Lincoln's literary career was a reception given for her in Fall River, Massachusetts, Sept., 1974. Clippings, photographs, and notes in this series describe the occasion. The "Edgar," an award from the Myster Writers Association of America is filed in Series 1. The "Edgar" is a small, ceramic bust in the likeness of Edgar Allan Poe.

Family letters are filed here along with very general correspondence from friends. Of interest, are letters from other prominent writers of the period including Sinclair Lewis, J.D. Salinger, William Saroyan, and May Sarton. Final items relate to the disposition of Miss Lincoln's estate in 1986.
