“Scriptoria Medii Aevi Helvetica.”
Scope and Contents note
Series 4: Medieval Studies is the largest series in the collection and is filed in Boxes 11 - 26. In Series 4 are copies of pages of books dating from the Middle Ages either written in German or in Latin, but with German influences in the text. Material in this series indicates that Wilkens was also very interested in styles of writing and in iconography although he did not publish anything on these subjects. Books used by Wilkens were found in ten different countries.
Included are notes and copies of Medieval books found in archives from Western Europe: Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, England, The Netherlands, Denmark, the Vatican, and Sweden. The studies are about German in Latin handwritings, German handwritings, and icons.
