Scope and Contents note

From the Series:

Series 1: Lecture Notes consists of Professor Lane's notes for his classes at Hopkins beginning with a world history class he taught in 1943. Lane believed that a survey course in history should begin with the beginnings of society, and his introductory course for undergraduates was titled "Occidental Civilization to the Seventeenth Century." His notes include references to the early Mediterranean cultures and continue through the period of the Later Middle Ages. Included also are lecture notes from classes he taught at Brandeis [1966-1970].
