Biographical / Historical

In 1999, Mame Warren was commissioned to write a history commemorating The Johns Hopkins University’s 125th anniversary. The basis for the book was a series of oral history interviews with Hopkins faculty, administrators and alumni. She transferred the tapes, transcripts, and research notes to Special Collections in 2001. Warren conducted additional interviews from 2002-2007 that were also added to the collection.

Warren chose to interview subjects who could comment on a wide variety of experiences and events at the university. Fifty-five people were interviewed, representing all university divisions: arts and sciences, the schools of medicine and public health, the Peabody Institute, the Applied Physics Lab, the School of Professional and Business Studies, and the School for Advanced International Studies.
