"Airs of Providence," contract, 1 folder
Scope and Contents note
The bulk of the writings is made up of the typescripts of McGarry's published books. The series also includes a group of prose poems and a group of unpublished writings. The remainder of the series is miscellaneous student papers, offprints, publications and articles.
The writings provide an interesting overview of the creative process and development of poetry and fictional short stories and novels. Files containing correspondence about the publistion process provide further insight. More specifically, correspondence and newspaper articles written by McGarry during her sting at the Detroit Free Press allow researchers a glimpse into some of the inspiration for her novel Gallagher's Travels.
