Series 1: Research Material
Scope and Contents note
This material is undated, but was most likely compiled by Painter in the 1940s-1950s. The notes are arranged alphabetically by Painter's file folder headings; in those instances where the material was untitled, it has been filed under "Research Material."
Painter recycled his paper. On the back of some of the research sheets are drafts of portions of his writings. No entire work is represented, but often the draft relates to the research notes it is with. This gives a slight indication of how Painter used his sources.
