Scope and Contents

The Rent Notebook which forms this collection is a bound holographic volume, covered in vellum, written in Catalan, 1718-1721. A few pages are written in Spanish. The recording of rents was mostly completed by Don Isodoro de Puig Molto whose signature appears on several pages. Some administration of debts and income is also recorded, and there is indication that household goods were sold to obtain money. Material unrelated to the collection of rents is also contained in the manuscript. A method for preparing chocolate is given. Of interest is a description of events during the War of Spanish Succession including that of a foiled rebellion in the city of Valencia. The Rent Notebook may have been written in a place named Samara, but its existence has not been confirmed. A full translation of manuscript is not available.
