Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 41 pamphlets, one broadside, and one manuscript sent to President Wilson and ranging in date from 1883-1919, but dating primarily from 1917-1919. About half the materials bear presentation inscriptions to Wilson. Most have a government stamp acknowledging receipt of the material.

The pamphlets fall into four categories: foreign language studies of Wilson; poetry addressed to the President; homeletics on world peace; and tracts from special interest groups of various foreign countries.

Biographical / Historical

Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 – February 3, 1924) was an American politician and academic who served as the 28th President of the United States from 1913 to 1921. He led the United States during World War I, establishing an activist foreign policy known as "Wilsonianism." He was a major leader at the Paris [Versailles] Peace Conference in 1919, where he championed the proposed League of Nations.
