Martha McCrory papers
Scope and Contents
The Martha McCrory collection contains papers, publications, and correspondence regarding many of Martha's academic projects, most of which span the 1980s and 1990s. Included are items regarding Cesare de Bagno, Italian Renaissance Jewelry, Medici Grand Dukes, her collaboration with Clifford Brown, the Fashion Institute of Technology, and many others. The primary language of the collection is English, although some of the papers are in both English and Italian, and there are several Italian pamphlets and scrapbooks. The documents remain in Martha's original organization and are grouped mainly by academic project, with correspondence and miscellanea throughout.

Biographical / Historical
Martha McCrory was an Italian scholar and professor specializing in Renaissance jewelry and fashion. She graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois, and in 1964 began studying the History of Art at Courtauld Institute in London, where she earned her PhD. After living in Florence for several years, she worked in the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, as an instructor at the JHU School of Continuing Studies, and at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
