Mrs. Charles E. Tyler diaries
Scope and Contents
These two (2) original manuscripts dated 1943-1947 and 1948-1952 are five year diaries handwritten by Mrs. Charles E. Tyler. The first book begins with Birmingham, Alabama and moved to Tuscaloosa on June 2, 1944. In the second diary readers will find them in Omaha Nebraska. Mrs. Taylor never misses a day in the 10 years she details her incredibly busy life with her husband, Reverend Charles E. Tyler and her son Skipper. She begins most entries: 'Very full day' then briefly details visits, Church duties and events, including working with the Synod, running a Minister's class, doing her own preaching and writing her own sermons. The diaries also have a small number of news clippings.

Biographical / Historical
Mrs. Charles E. Tyler was married to a Presbyterian minister Rev. Charles E. Tyler. The reverend was the founder of Calvin Memorial Presbyterian Church (1910), designated a city of Omaha landmark in 1985 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as North Presbyterian Chrch in 1986. He also is responsible for founding Hillside Presbyterian church in Omaha.
