Christopher Lobingier (1944-2014) was a composer based in Baltimore who wrote the original score to the 1977 John Waters film Desperate Living and cofounded the Baltimore Composers Forum in 1993. This collection contains scores of original compositions by Chris Lobingier, including his score to Desperate Living, as well as materials related to the Baltimore Composers Forum, recordings, and other ephemera.

Biographical / Historical

Christopher Lobingier (1944-2014) was a composer based in Baltimore who also worked as an audiovisual specialist for the Peabody Institute's Arthur Friedheim Library for 35 years. He composed the original score to the 1977 John Waters film Desperate Living and works for solo instruments and chamber ensembles. In 1993 he cofounded the Baltimore Composers Forum, an organization that supports local composers by presenting concerts of their original works.

Gift of James Houston in 2018 and 2019.

Processed by Matt Testa in 2018. Additional scores received in 2019 are unprocessed.

Due to the disorderly state of the materials upon accession, scores had to be gathered into folders for ease of use.
