Terenzio?, Alberta, January 16, 1932
Scope and Contents note
Series 1: Personal contains business receipts; stock holdings, check registers, and bank statements related to John Work Garrett's financial affairs. Also in the series are financial records from Garrett's unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination to the United States Senate in 1922. Telephone/Address books from Paris most likely were personal items of Mrs. Alice Garrett.
Of interest in Boxes 1.3 and 1.4 are the many requests received by the Garretts for relief for European victims of war in the 1940s. Final items in the series are records from Garrett's personal library including book and artwork orders. Correspondence from 1946 indicates that Mrs. Garrett continued her husband's interest in acquisitions for the library. Box 1.5 includes miscellaneous ephemera, clippings, travel documents, honorary degrees and other items associated with John Work Garrett's career.
