Alexandre Chessin was born in St. Petersburg in the Russian empire in 1866 and was a professor of Pure and Applied Mathematics at Johns Hopkins University from 1895 to 1899. In 1999, after being absent for several years, the Course Guide returned, entitled the ACE (Academic Course Evaluation) Guide.
