Overview A committee was formed in 1940 to celebrate the centenary of poet Sidney Lanier's birth, February 3, 1842. The collection consists of the correspondence of Elinor Pillsbury recruiting members of the National Lanier Centennial Committee, dating from 1939 through 1945.
Overview Raymond Dexter Havens, educator and author, was born in Rochester, New York in 1880. In 1925, he joined The Johns Hopkins University faculty as Caroline Donovan Professor of English, a post he held until his retirement in 1949.
