"The/rapist" pages, 2017
Three pages, in the form of engraved aluminum plates, from Maureen Cummins' artist book The/rapist. One is a page from the middle of the book, while the other two plates are the last two pages of the book. The book explores the gendered history of psychosurgery via the history of Dr. Walter Freeman, whose work popularized lobotomy. The book's shape mimics a medical chart, while the aluminum plates evoke a hospital environment and surgical tools.
