Series 2: Creative works, approximately 1950-2019
Scope and Contents
This series contains materials related to individual stories, novels, plays, films, and story collections written by Stephen Dixon or adapted from his writing from approximately the 1950s to 2019. Some subseries contain both full copies of the work, as well as individual stories contained within that work. The written materials are generally typescripts, as this was Dixon's preferred writing method. Some drafts were written on the back of other documents, and several include handwritten notes and revisions by Dixon and other editors. This series also contains video adaptations of Dixon’s work on VHS tapes, as well as bibliographies and other unpublished stories by Dixon.

Arrangement
This series is arranged into sub-series alphabetically by the titles of creative works. Within the sub-series, the files are generally arranged with complete drafts or versions of a work followed by individual stories arranged by their order within the published work.
An accrual of Dixon's typescripts was transferred to the archives in 2021 and processed as sub-series "Additional typescripts donated in 2021." The sub-series contains typewritten drafts which Dixon stored in a bin labelled "Rough drafts of stores in Late Stories." Late Stories was published in 2016. The bin also contained drafts of stories featured in Dear Abigail and Other Stories (2018). The drafts in were kept in Dixon's original order and date from 2011-2017. See the sub-series Late Stories (boxes 17 and 18) and Dear Abigail and Other Stories (boxes 6 and 28) for related drafts featured in each book. The sub-series also contains an untitled draft dated approximately 1985.
