Scope and Contents
An event program for the NAACP's Fiftieth Anniversary Founders' Observance celebration. It was held at the Community Church of New York on the afternoon of February 12, 1959. Speakers included NAACP founders W. E. B. DuBois and John Haynes Holmes. Other speakers included Roy Wilkins, Robert C. Weaver, Lloyd K. Garrison, and Arthur B. Spingarn. The program also describes the founding of the NAACP, beginning with the Springfield race riot of 1908 and a list of the 53 signers of a call for support for a national conference to discuss civil rights.
