"Free Political Prisoner Marshall 'Eddie' Conway" Partnership for Social Justice flyer, circa 2004

 Item — Box: 1, Folder: 35

Scope and Contents

A flyer titled "Free Political Prisoner Marshall 'Eddie' Conway," which was created by Partnership for Social Justice. The flyer calls for a new trial for Black Panther Party member Eddie Conway and a full and open investigation of COINTELPRO, an FBI operation that targeted political activists in the 1960s. Conway was convicted in 1971 for the murder of a police officer; Conway maintained his innocence and claimed to be a political prisoner.

The front of the flyer contains information on FBI misconduct through COINTELPRO, as well as information about the irregularities in Conway's case. The back of the flyer contains action items for readers to help free Conway. These include writing to him in prison, signing a petition to the Congressional Black Caucus to open a hearing on COINTELPRO, donate to or host a fundraising event for the Partnership for Social Justice, and educate their community about Conway's case.
