Thomas Kell letter to George Hebb regarding "The Declaration of Rights and the Constitution of Maryland", 1824 August 5

 Series — Container: 2, Folder: 3

Scope and Contents

Copied from dealer description: "Offered is an interesting, original manuscript snapshot of political commentary in a handwritten letter by Judge Thomas Kell (1772 - 1846) to George Hebb, regarding his publication, ‘The Declaration of Rights and the Constitution of Maryland: As adopted by the Convention, with several amendments by acts of Assembly, Baltimore: W. Wooddy, 1824.’ Kell’s one and a quarter page letter praises Hebb's work: “Thank you for your new edition of the constitution of Maryland received a few days past…I feel no hesitation in saying it will be found a useful and convenient work. Such a one has been long wanted." "The Declaration of rights agreed to by the delegates of Maryland in convention (Nov 1776) is very properly prefixed to your edition of the Constitution, thereby presenting to the convenient view of our citizens the first principles of a free government emanating from the choice of the people." Toning, fold separations and tears affecting a few words. Overall G."
