Rewritten from dealer description: This item is a folio containing over 150 caricature drawings created approximately in 1861. The drawings were transcribed by hand in pen and ink, and are selections from contemporary publications which were copied by the artist, who is unknown. The subjects include examples of the work of leading caricaturists: Bertall (Charles Albert Arnoux), Cham (Charles Amédée de Noé), Paul Gavarni, Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard Grandville, Alfred Grévin, and Nadar (Gaspard-Félix Tournachon), though many are unattributed. The folio also contains images from famous sequences including "Gens de Paris", "Paris en l’an 3000", "Metamorphoses du jour", "Fourberies de femmes", and "Les Enfants terribles". There are also examples of caricatures on the subject of fashion, women, and Parisian characters. The item measures 25 x 34 cm. Printed on the folio in French: “Un Chapelet de Bêtises” Translated in English: "A String of Stupid Things"
