Three ration cards from the 1870 to 1871 Siege of Paris. One meat ration card from the 9th arrondissement (district) and two subsistence cards for bread, groceries, oil, and chocolate from the 6th arrondissement. The subsistence cards are written with street names, one with "Conti" and one with "Buci."

French translation provided by the dealer: Une carte de viande du 9e arrondissement. Deux cartes de "Subsistance" pour pain et épicerie, huile, chocolat... du 6e arrondissement: rue de Bucci et quai Conti.

Biographical / Historical

Likely distributed by the République française, French government. The Siege of Paris began in September 1870 when the city was besieged by the Prussians during the Franco-Prussian War. Due to limited supplies in Paris, rations were distributed during the winter of 1870 to 1871.
