 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: MS-1009

Content Description

Collection contains prints of eighteenth century engraved plates, including those by J. Blundell, E. Bowen, C. Grignion, and several from Cornelis de Bruyn's Voyage au Levant. The prints primarily feature artistic engravings of architectural ruins, geography, and historical events in modern-day Turkey, Italy, Iran, Israel, and Cyprus. The collection also contains genealogical tables titled "The Tribe of Koreish," "A Genealogical Table of the Tribes of the Genuine Arabs, descended from Kahtan or Joktan," and "A Genealogical Table of the Tribes of the naturalized Arabs, being the Descendants of Ishmael, the son of Abraham by a Daughter of Modad the Jorhamite" which were likely published in A Universal History: From the Earliest Account of Time (London, 1747). These items are stored in Box 1 of the collection. The collection also contains engravings and reprints related to early American history, primarily created in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, including two prints by Muller, Luchsinger and Co. in New York which feature scenes from the Spanish-American War, the Battle of Cardenas and the Battle of Manila. These items are stored in Box 2 of the collection.
