Biographical / Historical

Unruly Records is a Baltimore-based record label that produces Baltimore club music, a musical genre developed as a regional blend of house music and hip-hop.

Founded in 1996 by DJs Scottie B, Shawn Caesar, and Karizma, Unruly Records was the main record label producing Baltimore club music from its founding through the 2000s. The label was named for Baltimore drag performer Miss Tony's 1993 song "Whatzup? Whatzup?" in which the lyric "unruly" frequently repeats.
