Biographical / Historical
Francis E. Rourke was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and received his B.A. and M.A. from Yale University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1952. He was appointed an assistant professor of political science at Johns Hopkins in 1954 and was promoted to professor in 1961. Rourke also served as the department chair for a number of years. He retired from the university in 1993.

The materials were originally given to the library’s Collection Development department by Dr. Rouke in the late 1980s. They were transferred to Special Collections in 1989.
