Biographical / Historical
Abram Moses was born in Baltimore in approximately 1876 and attended the Baltimore City College, beginning his musical career as a choir boy in an East Baltimore synagogue near his home. Later study brought him to the Peabody Institute, where he received a teacher's degree in 1898, and to the orchestra's first violin section, in which he served from 1916 until 1936. He was a faculty member of the Peabody Conservatory, a composer, and music director of the Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. Moses died in 1954.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection of manuscript and Ozalid scores was intentionally assembled by the Arthur Friedheim Library in December 2017 from a backlog of unprocessed donations. Additional scores found in 2022 and added to collection.
