Scope and Contents
The majority of programs in this collection are of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra from 1898-1950. Special programs of note include Concerts for Colored Children and Concerts for Colored Adults. One program in this collection is of the Feier des Deutschen Tages from 1890. Although the location of this concert is not indicated in the program, it is likely that it was associated with one of the many German culture appreciation societies that existed in Baltimore at the time. There are also two programs from of the Oratorio Society of Baltimore, dated 1890 and 1891. Additional documents in this collection include clippings about the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra dating from 1965, and an undated, handwritten document about the history of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Two programs of note are recitals given in Baltimore by Hans von Bülow in 1890 and Ignacy Jan Paderewski in 1892.
