Harry T. Hyndman scrapbook

Abstract Henry Harry Tuck Hyndman (1876-1942) came from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and served a brief service as an artillery soldier in the Spanish-American War in Puerto Rico 1898. This item is a bulging and dynamic album kept by Hyndman. The 80-page scrapbook includes programs, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, broadsides, souvenir medals, letters, and other manuscript items. Henry Harrisse was a scholar and bibliographer whose particular interest was the arrival of Europeans in America. He was born in Paris in 1829. The collection consists largely of items removed from books in the Harrisse Collection in Special Collections at Johns Hopkins dating from approximately 1876-1910, as well as correspondence about Harrisse after his death, dating from 1937-1941.
