Dickey an admirer of the English poet, Lord Byron. Henry Harrisse was a scholar and bibliographer whose particular interest was the discovery of America. He was born in Paris in 1829. The collection consists largely of items removed from books in the Harrisse Collection in Special Collections at Johns Hopkins dating from approximately 1876-1910, as well as correspondence about Harrisse after his death, dating from 1937-1941.
