Calcutta Photograph collection

Carl Alfred Jacobson papers

Carl Alfred Jacobson (1876-1952) was a scientist and chief editor of The Encyclopedia of Chemical Reactions from 1946 to 1956. The collection consists of diaries dating from 1899 to 1947 and reprints of publications dating from 1908 to 1930. The diaries form the bulk of the collection.

Charles Mason Remey papers

Abstract

Charles Mason Remey was an architect, author, and a religious leader of the Baha'i faith. He was born in Burlington, Iowa, May 15, 1874. The collection consists of 154 bound volumes, spanning 1836-1940. In the volumes are personal reminiscences, clippings, photographs, memorabilia, biographical accounts of Mason and Remey family members, and a historical record of the Baha'i faith.

Edward Spencer papers

Scope and Contents Papers consist largely of Edward Spencer's personal papers although there are some papers of his parents and of his grandson Gellert S. Alleman. Edward Spencer's papers relate to his literary career. The earliest papers are school notebooks from the Trinity School in Baltimore (1848-49) and Princeton University (1853-58). Edwin Litchfield Turnbull papers

Abstract

Edwin Litchfield Turnbull (1872-1927) was a musician who helped create both the Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The collection spans the years 1881-1971 and consists of approximately 400 letters, photographs, loose newspaper clippings, juvenile notebooks, and 13 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings relating to musical, social, or other events.

English indentures regarding settlement of husbands' wills by their widows

Abstract

An indenture is a legal contract that reflects a debt or purchase obligation. This collection includes four 19th century English indentures, regarding the settlement of their husbands' wills by their widows. The indentures include the names of the husbands and wives, and the names of witnesses who attest to the existence of the marriages. The contracts are dated from 1866 to 1867.

Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) was an Alsatian musician, philosopher, physician, missionary, and author. Ernest Bueding was a parasite biochemist and pharmacologist who shared Schwitzer's interest in medicine and music. The collection consists of original manuscript letters of Albert Schweitzer, correspondence of Dr. Bueding concerning Schweitzer's work, printed material about Schweitzer, and original and copy photographs of Schweitzer.
