Scope and Contents The collection of Johns Hopkins professor of Romance Languages, A. Marshall Elliott, is formed largely by the holographic copies of manuscripts of Marie de France assembled by Professor Elliott from libraries in Europe. The papers are the research for his proposed work on the 12th-century French poet whose writings and background were not well known in the late 19th century/early 20th century. Anthony Hecht papers

Abstract

Anthony Hecht (1923-2004), one of the leading poets of his generation, is most well-known for his anthology The Hard Hours (1967), generally seen as his break-through volume. Hecht's small holding of papers, separated from his donated book collection, includes handwritten and typewritten correspondence, as well as clippings, programs, and other forms of ephemera. The materials range from 1982 to 2005, the later years of Hecht's literary career.

Scope and Contents Papers consist largely of Edward Spencer's personal papers although there are some papers of his parents and of his grandson Gellert S. Alleman. Edward Spencer's papers relate to his literary career. The earliest papers are school notebooks from the Trinity School in Baltimore (1848-49) and Princeton University (1853-58).
