Georg Hans Bhawani Luck (1926-2013) was a Swiss classicist known for his studies of magical beliefs and practices in the Classical world. For over twenty years he was a professor at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. This collection includes the professional papers of Luck, primarily typewritten speeches, annotated drafts of his writings, and some correspondence and research notes. Abstract

Herbert Baldwin Foster was born on November 12, 1874 in Amherst, Massachusetts. In 1905, he completed the first English translation of Cassius Dio Cocceianus's history of Rome. The collection consists of five folders. Two of them contain a manuscript of, most likely, Foster's presentation to the Philological Seminar in 1900 on the deus ex machina in Euripides's plays.
