Department of Romance Languages letters about José Robles Pazos' arrest
José Robles Pazos was an Associate Professor of Spanish at Johns Hopkins University born in 1897 and shot as a traitor by the Spanish Republican Government in February of 1937. The collection spans the years 1929-1940 and consists of correspondence regarding Robles' arrest, a contract for the Spanish translation of 13 books by H.L. Mencken, and two life insurance policies.

Lloyd's of London, generally known simply as Lloyd's, is an insurance market located in London, United Kingdom and founded in 1686. This collection is comprised of a marine insurance policy for wheat on a Dutch (?) ship, the Candidus, voyaging from America [Baltimore] to Lisbon. The policy was issued on January 28, 1789.
Maryland Mutual Insurance Company records
The Maryland Mutual Insurance Company was located in Baltimore and dealt in marine insurance. The company was chartered in 1858 and operated from about 1860 until 1877. This collection includes records of both the Maryland Mutual Insurance Company and the Baltimore Marine Insurance Company, and consists of administrative and financial records.
