Edwin Charles Cort received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1907 and was a medical missionary in Siam (Thailand) from 1908 intil 1949. This collection consists of an essay entitled "Thirty Years of Medical Practice in Siam" from approximately 1948.

Edwin Litchfield Turnbull (1872-1927) was a musician who helped create both the Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The collection spans the years 1881-1971 and consists of approximately 400 letters, photographs, loose newspaper clippings, juvenile notebooks, and 13 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings relating to musical, social, or other events.

Eleanor L. Turnbull was a poet and translator born in Baltimore in 1875. The Collection consists of correspondence, translations of Spanish poetry, notes, and personal items. Most of the collection dates from the 1930s through the 1950s, and deals with Turnbull's work as a translator.

Elisabeth Gilman was born in New Haven, Connecticut, December 25, 1867. She was the younger daughter of Daniel Coit and Mary (Ketcham) Gilman. Her father was a college professor and the first president of The Johns Hopkins University. The papers consist of correspondence, speeches, writings, diaries, newspaper clippings, printed material, memorabilia, and photographs.

This collection consists of the diary of Elizabeth Daum, which provides an account of her trip to Europe by ocean liner, July to October, 1926. Elizabeth Daum resided in Scranton, PA in 1926. Her travel diary indicates she was an unmarried, young adult who made a trans-Atlantic crossing to Europe in 1926. Other biographical information of Elizabeth Daum has not been found.

Elliott Coleman founded the Department of Writing, Speech and Drama at Johns Hopkins University in September 1946, the predecessor to The Writing Seminars. The collection consist of correspondence, manuscript poems, printed materials, and photographs. It spans the years 1932 to 1980 with the bulk of the material from 1978-1979.

Dwight David Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas in 1890 and died in 1969. he was the 34th President of the United States. The collection, 1948-1979, consists of nearly 180 holographic letters written by Dwight D. Eisenhower and recieved by his personal friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Slater, from November 1948 until March 1969. Letters and other materials from Mamie Eisenhower to the Slaters number 114 items and date from October 1950 to November 1979.

Collection consists of two letters written (August 23, 1861 and October 28, 1861) to Johnny Wilde in Selma, Alabama from Emilie Bailey in Wilmington, North Carolina at the outbreak of the American Civil War.

This collection contains items regarding the "Badianus Manuscipt," of which Emmart wrote a translation and commentary.

Erna Magnus was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1896, and was an author and educator in both Germany and the United States. The collection consists of two items: a typescript manuscript of Magnus's study, "Gainfully Employed Women in Chicago," (1943) and a travel diary written in German describing a trip to Germany, July 15-August 28, 1974.

Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) was an Alsatian musician, philosopher, physician, missionary, and author. Ernest Bueding was a parasite biochemist and pharmacologist who shared Schweitzer's interest in medicine and music. The collection consists of original manuscript letters of Albert Schweitzer, correspondence of Bueding concerning Schweitzer's work, printed material about Schweitzer, and original and copy photographs of Schweitzer.

The colletion consists of one bound volume of student notes in Greek literature and oratory prepared by Ernest G. Sihler while he was a graduate student at Hopkins, 1876-1878.

Ernst Cloos (1898-1974) was a structural geologist and professor at The Johns Hopkins University. The collection documents Cloos's field work and research through his meticulous, detailed field notebooks and research data dating from 1921-1980.

Collection consists of a letter (dated 1875) authored by Eugene Frederic Viles, written from Santo Domingo, to his father at Waltham, Massachusetts.

Francis A. Litz (1892-1989) was an author and professor of English. The collection consists of mostly personal items dating from 1916 to 1966.

Francis D. Murnaghan (1893-1976) was professor of mathematics at Johns Hopkins University from 1928 to 1949. The collection consists of research notes, lecture notes, correspondence, reprints, and drafts ranging in date from 1925 to 1971. Several lectures are in Portuguese and were presented by Murnaghan at the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica, São José dos Campos, Brazil.

Francis Lieber was a publicist, educator, and political philosopher born in Berlin on March 18, 1800. The Lieber Papers span the years from 1829 to 1873 and include correspondence; interleaved copies of Lieber's books; a small number of original manuscripts; printed speeches, lectures, articles and poems; administrative materials, printed briefs and manuscript decisions for the United States and Mexican Claims Commission (1868-1872).

Francis White (1892 – 1961) was an American diplomat born in Baltimore. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, memos and office files relating to White's career in the Foreign Service and his work for ITT and the Foreign Bondholders Protective Council. The bulk of the papers spans the years 1914-1961.
