Ronald Roxbury music manuscripts

Abstract Ronald Roxbury (1946-1986) was a composer, singer, flutist, and pianist. He was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and grew up as an African American during an era of segregation. He studied composition at the Peabody Conservatory with Stefans Grové and Earle Brown, earning a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in 1969. Sidney Clopton Lanier (1842-1881) was a Confederate soldier, musician, poet and author who lectured in English Literature at Johns Hopkins University and played flute in the Peabody Orchestra. The collection consists of correspondence, prose, poetry, lecture and music manuscripts, photographs, memorial information, newspaper clippings, and other materials.
