Johns Hopkins University was founded in 1876 and celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2001. This collection includes promotional and planning materials related to that celebration, dating from 1999 to 2001.
Johns Hopkins University African American real photo postcard collection
This is an artificially assembled collection of approximately 1018 real photo postcards portraying African-Americans, dating from approximately 1905 to approximately 1946. Each postcard is approximately 3½ by 5½ inches with a black-and-white photograph on one side and a postcard format on the reverse. The collection was left in original order and is organized by subjects or subject matter.

Johns Hopkins University Billie Holiday collection
The Johns Hopkins University Billie Holiday collection is an artificially assembled collection with manuscript material chosen by the curators of Special Collections, dating from approximately 1949 to 1993. The collection features eight items related to the life, career, and death of jazz singer Billie Holiday, 1915-1959. Holiday, or "Lady Day," was known for her disctinct vocal delivery and had a profound influence on jazz and blues music.
