This item is a large format herbarium book, compiled by Mary Ann Cowan. It contains forty pages with eighty-eight specimens, each identified with a botanical and common name. The item was created in 1835 and further inscribed in 1911.

Virginia Patrick was the daughter of Hopkins Chemistry Professor, Walter A. Patrick. Consists of notes from undergraduate classes at Duke University from 1935 to 1938 on Plant Physiology and Botany, as well as some academic papers written on similar topics.
